Today 1000s of people strolling, eating, shopping, socializing in ANOTHER amazing Red Bank street fair. Vendors and businesses sharing streets and sidewalks attracting throngs of people. Red Bank’s Broad Street #broadwalk is open to people throughout the warm months for playing, dining, shopping. 😂But what about PARKING!? People are attracted to walkable streets! AP can STOP prioritizing driving. We had an open street in City of Asbury Park Eileen Chapman and it was loved by many! He was drunk and dangerous. He killed two people. But he is not ENTIRELY to blame…The deaths of these two young men was preventable. This entitled, impatient, impaired driver passing on the right killed 2 young men, husbands, fathers, brothers.But it’s not ONLY his fault. The system in the US prioritizes driving, and the auto industry has such influence that driving is considered a basic human right, but safety on our roads is not. It’s so rare that a license is revoked at all, even if there’s a fatality, and never permanently. God forbid we make design changes on roads to keep vulnerable road users safe (that’s any road user outside a car). That drunk driver taken off the road would be warranted, and prevent him from killing again.
